Jeni Stanley was a beloved teacher at Caln Elementary for several years. She had a significant impact on "her kids" and everyone around her. She was diagnosed with Neuroendocrine (NET) cancer, a rare disease, on 8/12/12. Jeni fought with grace, positivity and humor; all while spreading awareness and with a continued dedication to helping others. She earned her angel wings on 5/31/15.
Our Jeni Memorial Fund is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It was created to directly and positively impact our local community, in Jeni's memory. Our focus is currently on Caln Elementary School, where Jeni was a cherished and inspiring teacher. Jeni had such a positive impact on so many that she was often referred to as "Our Jeni". Our goal is to ensure Jeni's legacy lives on and her impact is still felt by many.
In medical school, students are taught that when they hear hoof beats they should think horses, not zebras. In other words, look for the common and not the uncommon or rare. The zebra is our way of reminding doctors that the uncommon exists and should not be overlooked. For this reason, the awareness ribbon for NET cancer is zebra print.
